Easy Peasy Decoupage Kawaii DIY

Hello there, fellow crafters!

For today's post, we would like to demonstrate some DIY suggestions on how to try decoupage and kawaii-fy your personal things using special decoupage sheets. We are currently working on the Kawaii DIY Shop so you can also buy the materials we use (available in Japan) from our shop. YAY!

When I was strolling around Yuzawaya (a crafts store in Japan) and a 100 yen store, I found a decoupage corner filled with decoupage DIY sheets. They all reminded me of my love for washi tapes so I immediately tried this DIY activity.

Kawaii-fied my boring wooden washi tape box by doing decoupage.

Decoupage—from the French word découpe, meaning to cut out—is a craft or art form that entails pasting cut-outs (typically paper) to an object and then covering them with several coats of varnish or lacquer.[1] The process gives flat cut-outs an appearance of depth and makes patterns and pictures look as though they are actually painted on the decoupaged object. Decoupage is a fun and easy way to decorate just about any object, including household items from small vases to large pieces of furniture--the possibilities are endless. Best of all, decoupage can be learned fairly quickly in just a few steps. (source)

If you need some pep talk about (re)starting your blog dream, I've also written a blog entry about how blogging has changed my life.

For this easy kawaii DIY tutorial, you will need the following:

★ washi tapes ★

★ colorful / patterned origami sheets ★

★ a pair of scissors ★

★ twine string ★

Since I have a set of gingham-patterned origami sheets, I decided to use these on-hand materials instead of printing out patterns from the internet.

You can do the latter one if you want unique patterns : )
